Itinerary
After arriving at the International Airport in Liberia you will meet the driver and go to Rincon de la Vieja. The drive takes approximately one hour.
Today after enjoying breakfast you will go on a horseback riding tour. The tour takes you to the beautiful Oropendola Waterfall through a beautiful forest trail. You can take a refreshing swim in the idyllic River Blanco. Afterward, you will go to Symbiosis Spa by horse to relax in the hot springs, spa, and mud. The first part takes 45 minutes by horse. The second part of the hotel takes 40 minutes by horse.
After breakfast, you will meet your guide. Today, a challenging hike is planned for you. The hike leads to the main crater of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano up to 5,925 feet (1,806 meters) with an amazing view. This volcano has a lagoon of freshwater close to the summit. The hike up to the summit is 5 miles long (8km) and only possible when the weather conditions and volcanic activity permit.
After breakfast, you will go on a private transfer to La Fortuna which takes approximately 4 hours. You’ll have a rafting and organic farm tour in La Fortuna. Enjoy sights of the lush forest of Costa Rica and waterfalls while going on a hair-raising whitewater rafting excursion. Take your included helmet and life vest, and harmlessly maneuver the rapids of the river, twists, and turns with a local guide. Refill with a freshly cooked lunch at an organic plantation. Safety equipment is included, so you can appreciate your excursion worry-free. Pick the level of difficulty that best goes with your wishes.
After breakfast, you will go on a kayaking trip. The Peñas Blancas is a slow-flowing river so you will have the perfect opportunity to watch the wildlife of Costa Rica. Look closely and see monkeys, iguanas, caimans, and all kinds of tropical birds. While floating on the river a guide will give you all the information about the wildlife.
After breakfast, you will go on a biking tour around the beautiful area of the volcano and Lake Arenal as bikes are not allowed inside the National Park. The distance is approximately 8 to 16 miles (13 to 26 km) and the altitude is approximately 280 to 600 ft. (85 to 183 meters).
Today you’ll have the opportunity to choose between any of these excursions:
- Go on a thrilling safari floating expedition on a jungle river. For safari floating it has classification II. This is a good opportunity for a slower trip on the Sarapiqui River and to experience the surroundings.
- Discover the flora and fauna from above! Take an impressive hike over the hanging bridges or go on an adrenaline-rushing canopy tour.
- For real adrenaline lovers: visit the Venado Caves. For 1,5 to 2 hours you will go on a guided visit where you explore the caves by sliding through mud holes and hiking through the underground rivers.
After breakfast at the hotel, you will have a private transfer to Liberia International Airport. The drive takes approximately 4 hours.
