Lachua Lagoon
Guatemala
Jungle Canopy
Overview
The Lachua Lagoon is a perfectly round clean and beautiful body of water that is found surrounded by mountains in a remote area of Guatemala. The 3 hour drive from Coban to this magnificent site is definitely worth the wait. While located in a national park and surrounded by rain forests, not many travelers visit this area. Often, the lagoon has no visitors. You will be enjoying the surroundings of a place that many have not experienced.
What to expect
The thought of crystal waters in a circle in the middle of a rainforest provides beautiful imagery, and this imagery can come to life for you on this Lachua Lagoon Tour. A driver will pick you up from your hotel in Coban area and take you to Lachua Lagoon where you will see the beautiful waters. Enjoy the surrounding mountain views, also keep your eyes open for tapir, toucans and butterflies.
You can enjoy a nice swim during your visit, but the crocodiles prefer that you stay away from areas marked “No Swimming”. These are clearly marked for you to enjoy both the view of these amazing creatures as well as an area of relaxation in the pristine waters. Do not forget to bring your camera and a towel — in fact that is all that you are allowed to bring lakeside, in an effort to continue to be litter free.
