Throughout the day, you will visit: Ixchel Museum of the Mayan Costume, Popol Vuh Museum, National Palace, Metropolitan Cathedral, National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, and Relief Map. This is a great tour of the city if you find yourself with an extra long stay at the airport also. Guatemala City is the most in full bloom city in all of Central America with its trendy buildings and commerce centers that contrast with Antigua Guatemala, a colonial and romantic city, with a combination of antique buildings and ingrained customs of traditions.

What to expect

Let yourself fall back through the years to experience colonial art all the way through art of today. The Mayans have amazing talents that will be shared with you throughout this day. Your visit to Ixchel Museum of the Mayan Costume will produce the opportunity to learn more about the weaving heritage. You will see around 6,000 varies woven items on display, created in the late 19th century until now.

There are also watercolor paintings depicting these amazing costumes for you to view. Popol Vuh Museum will guide you through ceramic art and stone sculptures. While the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology contains 20,000 pieces from Guatemalan history for you to view, such as pottery, artwork, crafts, textiles and relics from archaeological sites. This tour does not stop with museums though. You will have the opportunity to visit the seat of the Guatemalan government, National Palace of Culture, as well as the Metropolitan Cathedral. The cathedral is the main church of Guatemala City. It stands in the center of the city. Gaze at the beauty of its structure, size, altars and pillars.
