Explore the best of Ometepe, including an old church visit, a coffee plantation tour, and some much-needed relaxation time on the beach with a stunning view of the surrounding volcanoes.
See the tropical flora and fauna of the island up close. Witness a sunset at Masaya Volcano and observe the parrots returning to their sleeping spot as the bats embark on their nightly journey.

Highlights
Experience the Somoto Canyon, and go horseback riding through the tropical nature with its variety of wildlife. Experience the highlights of Ometepe, visit an old church, watch how coffee is grown, relax at the beach with a great view of the volcanoes, and discover some tropical flora and fauna on the island. In Masaya Volcano experience a beautiful sunset and watch parrots returning to their sleeping place while bats start their journey into the night.
Itinerary
Upon arrival, a representative will be waiting for you to take you to your hotel in Leon.
The tour starts in León in the morning. You will be transferred to the Somoto Canyon. The river here is 4.7 kilometers long and has a depth of 100 meters, and runs through the canyon. First, you will walk in the canyon, then we take small boats and finally we can swim in the canyon or drift through it by using rubber tubes. Later that day we continue to Estelí, where you stay overnight in a hotel and you can enjoy dinner in one of the restaurants.
After breakfast, you will take a tour to visit the city’s highlights. Among other highlights, you will visit a museum and see some murals. You will visit a cigar/tobacco Factory, where you will learn about the process of making cigars. Next, we will continue to the mystical reserve of Miraflor. Here you participate in a horseback riding tour that leads you to some amazing places: beautiful waterfalls, some coffee farms, and through the cloud forest that is inhabited by tropical birds. Along the tour, you can enjoy breathtaking views.
After breakfast in Miraflor, you will return to León, you will have some free time to rest and relax.
Today, you will drive to the port in San Jorge at Lake Nicaragua and take a ferry to Moyogalpa on Ometepe Island. A day tour on the island follows. First, you will visit the church and stone statues in Alta Gracia. The second stop is at Finca Magdalena in Balgue, where you can see how they grow organic coffee.
Later, at Santo Domingo which has a wonderful beach and is situated between the two volcanoes of Ometepe Island, you will have time for lunch, to relax and swim. In the afternoon we continued to Charco Verde, a small lake on Ometepe Island. This city is home to the mythological figure, Chico Largo. While walking around the lagoon and enjoying the flora and fauna, you will learn about this mysterious legend. Enjoy the scenery and nature before you spend the night on Ometepe Island. You have the evening free.
In the morning we take the ferry from Moyogalpa Back to San Jorge. From there you will be transferred back to Granada. You will have free time to rest and explore on your own in the city of Granada.
Have fun and enjoy the unique views from above the ground in the middle of the rainforest. On this tour, you will experience the rainforest in a very unique way. You will fly through it on a total distance of 1500 m, by zipline across 11 cables between 17 platforms in 4,5 hours. Keep your eyes open for a variety of animals and plants. Adrenaline and fun are guaranteed for this unique experience.
In the afternoon you leave from Granada To start your adventure to Masaya Volcano. You can experience a lot of wildlife during this tour. In the evening, you can watch how parrots return to sleep inside Santiago’s active crater. If you want to see different species of bats, you can take a walk in a small cave. A guide will inform you about Masaya Volcano’s ecology, geology, and history. Once it is dark you can listen to nature’s sounds and enjoy the view of the city lights of Managua, Granada, and Masaya, if the weather conditions allow it. In the evening you will be transferred back to Granada.
The tour starts in Granada and combines two unique experiences. We will drive up the Mombacho Volcano to the top through the pristine cloud forest. There we will hike to the crater and you will learn about the flora and fauna. You will have an amazing view of Granada, Lake Nicaragua, the Lagoon of ‘Apoyo’, and the little islands. After a stop at the Biological Center, we’ll drive down the volcano.
Then you have a chance to visit coffee plantations and the dry tropical forest. Keep your eyes open for the variety of birds and animals like monkeys along the way. Here, your next adventure begins in the canopy. On 11 different steel cables and three hanging bridges, you will discover the treetops and go a distance of about two kilometers between 17 platforms. Lots of fun and adrenaline are guaranteed. After these experiences, you will be transferred back to Granada.
This awesome outdoor vacation ends today. Today a driver will take you to the international airport of Managua for your flight back home.
